Michiel Kranendonk   Michiel Kranendonk

Ships leaving port, Terschelling

Woodcut, 16 x 21 cm.

After studying at the Ruudt Wackers Academy in Amsterdam, Kranendonk moved to Groningen where he furthered his education at the Art Academy Minerva. Kranendonk’s work consists of landscapes and townviews in oil, watercolour and pastel. The emphasis is on the display of light and atmosphere. He finds his topics on his travels, mainly in France and Italy, but also closer to home; the Dutch Wadden Sea seascape remains a source of inspiration. Besides paintings and prints, Kranendonk makes smaller bronzes, often with a humoristic touch.
