Oak Chair
Dutch, 19th century This is a nineteenth century interpretation of the French ‘Caquetoire’; a type of chair originating in the Renaissance. ‘Caqueter’ means to chat and this chair was made for just that purpose. Albeit somewhat large and heavy, initially this was a ladies chair. Because of the sumptuous dresses of the time, an ordinary chair would often be uncomfortable. Hence the sweeping arms on this model. For even more comfort the use of a cushion is recommended. 111 x 66 x 47 cm. € 275 |
